“Meet Ya There”
Water Toy Weekend at Lake Perris, Moreno Valley
July 24, 2011

A little history for you; back in the day “Water Toy” was an idea thought up by a club member at the time who was on the SBSC Diva for a Day committee as a fund raiser “picnic at the lake” for the club. In the early years, club members who attended just brought their picnic baskets and Super Soaker water guns to play all day doing walk-by’s in the intense heat. The event now has matured to a day of family/friends, alternative outdoor activities for the kids and bringing your “bigger” water toys (boats, jet ski’s, towable tubes), family, food and stuff to keep you cool with an attendance of all-comers from up and down California. This year some people came from out of state (Washington, Alabama, Arizona) and out of the country (the exchange students from China).

I would like to thank Mother Nature for not ponying up to the expected heat wave. It turned out to be a pretty nice day with a continuous breeze, down to becoming quite blusterous and destroying canopies later in the afternoon.

My water toy (boat) unfortunately, was quarantined by the local authorities for not passing their “dry engine” inspection. As were several others of the “Meet Ya There” guests, but those who’s water craft made it on Lake Perris insured those that were restricted to land, got us wet – by offering rides on boats, jet ski’s and towable’s.

I what to give a special shout of Thanks to all those boaters and jet ski riders for sharing the water experience with the little people (20-25 children) And the big kids (200 adults), who otherwise, have never been exposed to a large body of water.

There was so much Yummy for my tummy. The BBQ grills were smoking all day with continuous flow of burgers, steaks, links, ribs, shrimp skewers, chicken and fish. Thanks to my family, extended family (folks that claim they family) and friends for keeping my appetite not wanting for more. Wow, I am still full from thinking about all that I ate. I also need to thank my Nephew (Kene) for all the red bull drink – for those that passed by my “204” canopies, and saw the two stand up red bull ice cooler containers dispensing out cases of the drink. My nephew donated the drinks to all who needed to wet their palate. Such a nice gesture.

I hope that all the “Meet Ya There” people who braved the drive, packed your own
stuff and made it out to “water toy”, had an enjoyable day. I know, I sure did.

See you at the next “Meet Ya There” adventure,

      Raynay
